We Still Need Tailors

They make the shirts in factories. We still need the tailors.

They put the fire into light bulbs. We still need someone who knows how to start the fire.

They produce the food for billions. We still need the slow-cooked meal.

They print the pages by the thousands. We still need the letter, written by hand with love.

They cover the earth with roads. We still need to find the footpath.

They give us the air-conditioning. We still need the wind in our face.

They give us the GPS-enabled map. We still need to get lost.

They build the all-inclusive resort. We still need the cozy beachside bungalow, the cabin in the woods.

They manufacture the prefab housing. We still need to find shelter from the storm.

They show us the endless stream of images. We still need the painter.

They put the songs in our pockets by the thousands. We still need to feel the vibrations from the stage, to hear the scratch of the needle, to dance cheek to cheek.

They give us the access to information and experiences, to seemingly everything and everyone. We still need the sense of mystery and discovery.

They connect us to every ‘friend’, old and new. We still need the friend, tried and true.

They give us the timesavers. We still need the timeless.

They give us the bytes and the bits. We still need to touch and to hold.

They can take us anywhere. We still need to be here.

They make it easy. We still need to make.
